The historic town of South Queensferry is set for a whisky revival. Plans are being drawn up to build a brewery under the Queensferry Crossing.
There has always been a whisky connection in Queensferry. The town used to be home to Vat 69.
The Forth Bridge Brewery is being planned by Dave Robertson. He hopes to raise around £3 million to start the brewery, and already around half a million has been pledged already. When production starts in 2016 around 110,000 litres of craft beer, gin, vodka and of course whisky will be turned out every week.
It is planned that new processes will be used to speed up the ageing process of the spirits.
There will also be a restaurant and bar on the upper floor.
This is set to boost tourist figures in the small town. The summer time already sees an influx of visitors and Dave hopes that around 20,000 more per year will make the trip to Queensferry to visit the Forth Bridge Brewery.
